ABOUT
Timo Kleinemeier (*1994) studied Audiovisual Media at Stuttgart Media University and in the fine arts program of the School of Art, Design & Media in Singapore. He received a post-graduate degree in Sound Design from Film Academy Baden-Württemberg. In 2024 he co-founded Resonanz Kollektiv.
At the core of his creative practice lies the mediation between art and technology. His work spans various experimental, pop-cultural and commercial formats: As a sound designer & sound director, he moves freely between film, theatre, fine arts and contemporary experimental music. He designs acoustic scenographies, participatory experiential spaces and tells auditory stories. With a fascination for the personal emotional experience as well as for the forces that shape us collectively, he perceives sound not only as a material to be crafted, but as a carrier of social and ecological realities.
Timo has shaped the soundtracks of several feature-length documentaries and fictional films. His works have screened in cinemas, on television, and at international festivals and competitions, receiving nominations at the German Film Award, the German Short Film Award and in the student categories of both the Oscars and the Art Directors Club. Beyond Film, Timo has worked with leading contemporary music ensembles, including Neue Vocalsolisten, Ensemble Musikfabrik, and Klangforum Wien. His work has taken him to various performing arts festivals (Eclat, Irritierte Stadt, Hauptsache Frei, Theaternatur, 6 Tage Frei, Sommer der Künste, Beethoven Fest, 2k+), stages (Nationaltheater Mannheim, Lichthof Theater, Theater Rampe, Wilhelma Theater, Theaterhaus Stuttgart, Theater der Jungen Welt) and museums (Kunstmuseum Stuttgart, Museum of Natural History Stuttgart, Singapore Art Museum).
